    Mitsubishi Concept-RA

At the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, Mitsubishi premiered it's "Concept-RA". Essentially this sporty coupe concept touts being environmentally friendly with a new high output, clean diesel engine. Mitsubishi also hopes to appeal to enthusiast buyers as well with the S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) and Twin Clutch SST automated transmission found in the new Evolution X which was released in Japan on October 1st.
Mitsubishi's last attempt at doing an All Wheel Drive environment friendly sports coupe was inclusive in the concept of what became the 4th Generation (2006+) Eclipse. As it resulted, the 4G carried over many of the same traits found in the 3G and left us with no all wheel drive or turbo options.
My guess if this particular project doesn't fit in right with the concept, I'm willing to bet that these are images of what we can expect the 5th Generation Eclipse to be like. Better yet, if they keep the All Wheel Drive, things will definitely be looking up for the Eclipse market once again.
Here are highlights of specs that Mitsubishi has released:
    Engine:
2.2L 4 cyl DOHC Turbo Diesel MIVEC engine capable of 202hp and 309ft/lbs of torque
    Drivetrain:
    Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC)
    Active Steering
Active Damping Control to Active Center Differential
    Active Yaw Control
    Sport Antilock Brake System
    Active Stability Control

Undoubtedly, this is something most of us have been looking forward to for years and we are eager to continue to watch any future developments of this vehicle.

That 3000GT was way ahead of it's time. I would just be happy to see a powerful V6 with AWD.

Mitsu has to understand that people like me, the very young ones, want something fast that isn't a 4-door. I like the Evo and all, but I don't want one for a long time.

I just want something TURBO, and AWD. I dont care if they add more power but make the engine bay bigger too so we can have a larger platform.

I LOVE this car. I really hope it stays partially how it is now. I'm just not a fan of the SST transmission. I'm more of a manual kind of girl.

The Lancer Ralliart needs to go and they should make this version replace it. Give people an option of a 2 door or 4 door sports car.

^ Which is a total shame. Especially with Hyundai having the Genesis Coupe and the rumors of Nissan coming out with a 240sx replacement vehicle soon. Mitsu is going be left in the dust.

IMHO, that thing looks like total ass.

I think they are taking away from the eclipse's traditional look, and platform. I dont think it should be deisel either. Turbo/AWD sure, why not. But this concept is way over the limit, ever for a concept.

    Just my 2 cents..

by the time it hits the market, they will have changed so many things....probably not for better. like nick said 5" wheel gap, and that interior will probably be cheap shitty plastic like what we have in the 4g.

At least the wheel gap on the 4gs is better than it on my 2g RS... The front fenderwell is super high and narrow while the rear was fat and short... lowered it on some ground control coilovers/eibach springs, and didn't help it from looking stupid. Maybe it's only because I spend so much time staring at it
